PVA wood glue is an easy to use, flexible adhesive with high bond strength. It can be applied easily often without the need for a special applicator, and any excess can simply be wiped away before drying. It dries within about 10-15 minutes, but may require up to 24 hours for full cure depending on the specific application.
This adhesive sets well at room temperature and with good air circulation. Whilst clamping the materials during curing is not necessary, it is ideal if you want to maximise the strength of the bond. Clamping also helps to prevent creep over time. PVA wood glue dries clear so its not too apparent if it bleeds
As this is a water soluble adhesive, it is easy to clean up if there is any spillage. Clothes can simply be washed in warm water a few times, and carpets can be scrubbed with warm water and vacuumed with a wet vacuum cleaner.
D3 offers some water resistance, and is suitable for indoor use, even where there is frequent, short term exposure to water. D4 contains resin, is stronger and sets faster than D3, and has the highest grade of water resistance in PVA glue, making it suitable for outdoor use.

FAQs & Troubleshooting
Ensure that you are following instructions for your particular grade of adhesive and that you have the right ambient temperature and good air flow. Substrates must be dry and room temperature.
Ensure that you have:
- Used the correct grade of PVA glue for your application
- Used the adhesive according to instructions
- Prepared the substrates properly before applying the adhesive – surfaces must be clean and dry, without any dust or contaminants
- Applied the adhesive evenly and that you have used the right amount
- Used the recommended clamping time
